Game Rules

3-4th Grade Game Rules
  1. Each team needs to have a book-keeper, home team is official book

  2. (4) 10 minute running quarters

  3. 3-minute halftime 1-minute between quarters

  4. (3) Full Timeouts per team per game

  5. Clock stops during timeouts, and the last minute of the game.

  6. Overtime will be 3-minutes, then sudden death

    • Each team will get 1additional timeout per overtime

    • Clock will stop as it does in the final 1-minute of the game.

  7. 28.5 inch ball must be used

  8. Play on 9-foot rims

  9. Free Throws

    • On Hanging Rims (coming out) shoot from the foul line

    • On Adjustable Rims (up & down) shoot from (13 feet) must be marked

    • Player cannot touch or jump over foul line, as NFHS

    • All players except shooter and players behind 3pt line can enter lane at the release of the ball

  10. 3-pointers awarded (if line is available)

  11. Full Court Pressing is only allowed during the 4th quarter and during the whole Overtime period, but not by a team who is up by 15+ points. The score will freeze if one team gets a 20 pt lead. If the score comes below 10 the scoreboard will continue.

  12. Any half-court defense is allowed.

  13. 5 fouls result in a player disqualification

  14. Teams will switch goals at halftime.

  15. All other basketball rules governed by the NFHS will be enforced.

5-6th Grade Game Rules
  1. Boys will use official size basketball for boys

  2. Girls will use 28.5 inch basketball

  3. Pressing is allowed at any point, unless a team is up by 15+ points. The score will freeze if one team gets a 20 pt lead. If the score comes below 10 the scoreboard will continue.
