Game Rules
K-2nd Grade

4 – 5 minute quarters
-
One full (1 minute) and one 30-second time out per half.

2-minute half-time and 1-minute between quarters
-
Teams will play 5 on 5
-
Please ensure equal playing time for players – this is an instructional league. NO player can play more than 2 consecutive quarters.
* This rule is exempt if not possible due to a lack of players. -
NO pressing

Man-to-man defense only
-
Must pick up your man after they cross the volleyball line (or in between 3 pt line and half court)
-
Once the defensive team secures the rebound and possession, the new defensive team MUST get back.
Ball size: Youth 27” Basketball
Goal height: 8ft
3-4th Grade

Each team needs to have a bookkeeper; the home team is the official bookkeeper

(4) 10-minute running quarters
-
3-minute halftime 1-minute between quarters
-
(3) Full Timeouts per team per game
-
Clock stops during timeouts and the last minute of the game.

Overtime will be 3 minutes, then sudden death
-
Each team will get 1additional timeout per overtime
-
Clock will stop as it does in the final 1 minute of the game.

28.5 inch ball must be used

Play on 9-foot rims
-
Free Throws
-
On Hanging Rims (coming out) shoot from the foul line

On Adjustable Rims (up & down) shoot from (13 feet) must be marked

Player cannot touch or jump over foul line, as NFHS

All players except shooter and players behind 3pt line can enter lane at the release of the ball

3-pointers awarded (if line is available)

Full Court Pressing is only allowed during the 4th quarter and during the whole Overtime period, but not by a team who is up by 15+ points. The score will freeze if one team gets a 20 pt lead. If the score comes below 10 the scoreboard will continue.

Any half-court defense is allowed.

5 fouls result in a player disqualification

Teams will switch goals at halftime.

All other basketball rules governed by the NFHS will be enforced.
5-6th Grade

Boys will use official size basketball for boys
-
Girls will use 28.5 inch basketball

Pressing is allowed at any point, unless a team is up by 15+ points. The score will freeze if one team gets a 20 pt lead. If the score comes below 10 the scoreboard will continue.

Each team needs to have a book-keeper, home team is the official book
